Tablo prepared the cards in his hands, straightening them up as he ran over his introduction. As the student presidents called out his name, he took a deep breath and stepped on stage, smiling and waving as the crowd cheered him on. He liked that the students felt comfortable enough to be like this to him and didn’t hate him.

“Good evening parents, students and esteemed guests. We would like to welcome you all to the 2011 Hallyu High Christmas Showcase. We have many exciting performances lined up from a dance performance to an acoustic piano piece and even a surprise duet that will blow you all away. We have our judges seated at the back” He paused to extend his hand to the back, pointing out a small white-clothed table with two people seated and a free seat in the middle “Miss. Kwon, vocal coach, Mr. Bi the dance teacher and me, Tablo, as the final judge” He paused to grin and then continued on “Without further ado I will hand you back over to our student presidents and allow the showcase to commence” 

He did a small 90 degree bow, stepping to the side and then walking off stage to his seat at the judges table.

As the all knowing headmaster I have noticed a few concerns from the students that I will be addressing now:

• You are allowed to date, but with discretion. We do not approve of PDA in the middle of classes but that does not mean you should keep your relationship a secret. 
• You may have pets but you will be responsible for them. They also need to be recognised by the school so when and if you will be getting one, please notify the head office.
• You are allowed to have cars and other modes of transportation such as a motorbike, scooter etc. Much like pets you will be held responsible of your vehicle and please notify the head office in this situation. 
• We allow you to skip your major class once a week if you are going to be using the free time to train for said major and you are taking the advanced course. For example dance majors may be late and/or skip their Advanced dance course in order to use the time to prepare or practice for a performance etc. Please notify your class teacher beforehand. 
• You are allowed off campus during recess and lunch as long as you sign in and out of the school.

So with the Christmas season coming up very soon the teaching faculty is planning on holding a special themed showcase to celebrate. To be held on the 20th of this month (before you students leave for family visits, of course) in the Major Hall. 

We want to remind you all that it is not a competition but we (the vocal teaching faculty) will be choosing three ‘MVPs’ from all participants. The prizes will be shown on the night. Anyone from any grade and age may enter and perform any song of their choice. Original songs are also accepted.

We encourage all students to enter, either as a solo or as a group, as this is probably the last school event before the winter break. We look forward to seeing the songs you have all prepared and learnt over the year. Once again, this is not a competition so do not feel bad if you are not chosen as MVP. We just wish to recognise the students that were able to step up and above the rest of the grade.

December also means final assignments! Just because it is the Christmas season does not mean we will be lenient with the due dates and such. Ms. Kwon has already informed me of the amount of students asking for extensions on the vocal assignments and although extensions are understandable when considered, we would prefer if they were not needed.

It has also come to my attention that many students are using dance studios without booking it. The bookings are there for a reason and it makes the whole thing very messy if you do not book. So remember, double check if the studio has a booking before using it.

So the new year has started and its nice to see everyone back in school and looking excited to learn! With that said we’ve got a couple of things that need to be covered so excuse this if it ends up much longer than it needs to be.

• Dorms:

Everyone has been asking whats going on with the dorms and living arrangements and we’re currently in the process of fixing all that up. But for the time being just bunk anywhere with a spare bed. Dorms will be going according to age and gender so make the most of it while you can.

• Team/club heads:

Teams and clubs will each be getting a supervising teacher but they need a student representative to organise meetings, competitions etc. Applications for these will be out shortly and will be chosen by myself and the supervising teacher so even if you don’t apply you may be chosen as a head.

• Showcases

As we gather more students into the school we will slowly be bringing the showcases back! For those that don’t remember they are our weekly performances that happen in the Great Hall where you can showcase any talents you’ve got!

• Musical

We are currently in talks with the music faculty for considering of having a musical production this year. We have yet to decide what the musical will be but parts will be open to all grades and all majors — if you’ve got what it takes than drop by for an audition.

• Suggestions?

My office is always open for new suggestions in clubs, teams or anything else that you really want to see in the school.

We would like to inform everyone that the room mates at this moment are only temporary. Room assignments are still in the process of being put together and made. We are going to be putting grades together, two in a room and will try to match majors together so that group projects can be done easier.
